Recipe For Waffles
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ¾ cups milk (you can use 2% or whole milk for this recipe)
- ½ cup melted butter (unsalted or salted, depending on your preference)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions:
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This usually takes around 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs until light and fluffy.
- Add the flour, milk, and vegetable oil to the eggs and mix until just combined.
- Whisk in the sugar, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth. Be careful not to overmix the batter, a few small lumps are okay.
- Lightly spray your preheated waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray.
- Pour a ladleful of batter onto the hot waffle iron, spreading it out evenly if needed. Close the lid and cook the waffle for 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. The cooking time may vary depending on your waffle iron, so keep an eye on it.
- Once cooked, carefully remove the waffle from the iron and place it on a plate. Repeat steps 5-7 with the remaining batter.
- Serve your waffles immediately with your favorite toppings! Here are some ideas:
- Butter and maple syrup
- Fresh fruit and whipped cream
- Chocolate chips and peanut butter
- Fried chicken and hot sauce (savory waffle option)
Tips:
- For waffles with extra crispy exteriors and fluffy insides, let the batter rest for 15-30 minutes before cooking.
- You can also make the batter ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
- Don’t overfill your waffle iron – this will result in messy overflow.
Enjoy your delicious homemade waffles!
